Inside the Gynecomastia Procedure: Your Guide from Dr. Vishal Purohit
Hello friends! It’s me, Dr. Vishal Purohit, your trusted MCh Plastic Surgeon from Jaipur. Today, I’ll demystify the process of gynecomastia surgery to help you understand what the procedure entails. Let’s dive in!
1. Initial Consultation
Every journey begins with a conversation. During the initial consultation, I’ll discuss your medical history, your goals, and what you can expect from the surgery. This is a great time to ask any questions you may have!
2. Preoperative Evaluation
If you’re a suitable candidate for gynecomastia surgery, we’ll conduct a preoperative evaluation. This includes a physical examination, and may involve blood tests or imaging studies.
3. The Procedure
On the day of the surgery, here’s what you can expect:
- Anaesthesia: We’ll start with administering anesthesia to ensure your comfort during the procedure. This could be general anesthesia or intravenous sedation, depending on the specifics of your case.
- Liposuction: If your gynecomastia is primarily due to excess fatty tissue, liposuction techniques may be used. This involves inserting a cannula (a small, thin tube) through several small incisions to suction out the excess fat.
- Excision: If glandular breast tissue or excess skin needs to be removed, excision techniques are used. This may also be necessary if the areola needs to be reduced or the nipple repositioned to create a more natural male contour.
- Combination of Liposuction & Excision: Sometimes, both liposuction and excision are needed to achieve the best results.
4. Recovery
After the surgery, your chest may be bandaged, and you may need to wear a compression garment to minimize swelling and support your new chest contour. You’ll receive specific instructions about post-surgery care, medications, and follow-up appointments.
5. The Result
Expect to notice an immediate improvement in the shape and appearance of your chest. While you may feel sore for a few days, this will quickly improve, and you’ll be able to enjoy your new, more masculine contour!
Remember, gynecomastia surgery is a journey, not just a destination. It’s a step towards gaining more confidence in your body and feeling more comfortable in your skin. And I’m here to support you every step of the way.
